Squarespace For Students
(▼)(▲)March 27, 2014
This morning, Squarespace announced a new initiative to give students of particpating colleges a huge 50% off discount for their first year of service. The list of colleges seems to be pretty huge, but you can check if yours is on it by searching here. (▼)(▲)If you attend the University of Arizona, as I do, I can tell you right now that it is on the list. (Also, if you attend the same college as me, you should contact me and we should get together.)
While I don't currently use Squarespace, I used to use it for my old site, The Axx, which is still hosted there. I cannot recommend Squarespace higher. If you're in college, school responsibilities are probably going to be consuming too much of your time for you to code a website from scratch, but with Squarespace you can have a beautiful, responsive site finished and live within mere hours.
There's no better time to start your website than now, and there's no better place to start it quickly than Squarespace. Just sign up with your university email address and you'll get access to the discount.
My one disappointment on the subject is that if you already have a Squarespace website, you can't get access to the discount. I can't imagine a reason to punish users who adopted Squarespace before the discount by not letting them use it. Early adopters can be poor college students too. (▼)(▲)And "early adopters" isn't even a fair term for these users. Squarespace has been around for a long time, it should have awarded already present college users with an unexpected discount as well.
