The features of this update push Google Maps ahead of Apple's offering in new ways. Apple has been doing a great job at improving the reliability of Apple Maps, but they've spent so much energy on improving that aspect that their app has gained few new features since its release with iOS 6 nearly two years ago. 9to5Mac has reported that transit support is in the works for iOS 8 or 8.1, which will be a great help, but I hope we see even more improvements and new features such as offline maps as well.
