Interactive Table-Top Concept From Pizza Hut
Fascinating concept of an interactive touch screen table-top. Something like this could completely change the jobs of waiters and eliminate a lot of friction in the ordering process.
The only part I’m not a fan of is the final aspect, where they start playing a game on their table while they’re waiting for the food to arrive. People come to restaurants to converse, and there are already enough distractions from that in the form of smartphones and other devices without making the table be another one. (▼)(▲)That said, it could be nice if the table allowed smaller games, or could just be a simple doodling surface as a way to occupy children during that waiting period before meals arrive. I worked in a restaurant as a busser last year, and many families are already bringing in iPads for their kids or even just giving them their smartphones to occupy them. If the table could do this, it could avoid the necessity of placing expensive devices in positions where they could have drinks or food spilled on them.
